Job summary

SearchLabs is seeking a Process Engineer / Project Manager in Ontario to lead custom process‑equipment projects from design through fabrication, testing and commissioning. You will own process design, coordinate multidisciplinary teams and communicate with clients to ensure safety, on‑time delivery and compliance with project requirements.

You will work with process, mechanical, electrical and automation design teams, perform calculations, develop P&IDs, and manage scope, schedule and budget

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• P.Eng registration in Ontario or eligibility.
• Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical design challenges.
• Strong project-management, organizational and prioritization skills.
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with clients, vendors and trades.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within the regions served.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed process designs for custom fluid‑process systems.
• Create process descriptions, flow diagrams, P&IDs and equipment specifications.
• Perform mass‑balance, heat‑transfer, hydraulic and thermodynamic calculations.
• Specify major equipment, valves, instruments, piping and utility requirements.
• Provide technical input to mechanical, electrical and automation design.
• Lead technical reviews and ensure compliance with safety, code and quality standards.
• Champion projects from concept through fabrication, testing and commissioning.
• Establish priorities, coordinate resources and maintain project momentum.
• Communicate clearly with clients and internal teams to resolve technical and commercial issues.
• Track scope, schedule, budget, risks and decisions; elevate concerns early.
• Manage vendors and subcontractors, including scope, deliverables and performance.
• Support fabrication teams to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Respond to shop‑floor questions and resolve constructability issues.
• Plan and participate in factory acceptance testing and on‑site equipment testing.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and validation.
• Capture lessons learned to improve future designs and project execution.

Our client is a leading designer and builder of custom process‑equipment systems used across regulated and high‑performance manufacturing sectors. They deliver fully engineered, fabricated, tested and commissioned systems that support biotech, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, personal care and other advanced production environments.

This is a hands‑on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, coordinating multidisciplinary work, and seeing their designs become operating equipment.

The Opportunity

As a Process Engineer / Project Manager, you will lead custom process‑equipment projects through the full design‑build‑deliver cycle. You'll own process design, project coordination and client communication, ensuring equipment is delivered safely, on time and aligned with project requirements.

You'll work directly with clients and lead internal teams across process, mechanical, electrical and automation design, fabrication, testing and commissioning.
