Arup invites a Planning/Engineering/Environmental Intern for January–April 2027 in Toronto. You will shadow projects, collaborate across engineering, planning, and consulting groups on live assignments related to your field of study, and gain practical experience within a global advisory firm.

You will participate in internal and external meetings, attend networking events, and engage in technical training. This internship emphasizes learning, collaboration, and real-world experience.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Planning/Engineering/Environmental Science or related area.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and gain exposure to billable and active projects in your discipline.

• Interpret design issues and provide project perspectives on deliverables.

The Opportunity

• Job Shadowing
• Work across various engineering, planning, and consulting discipline groups
• Working day to day on billable and active projects related to your area of study/discipline/major
• Actively engage in online technical training's
• Engage in internal and external meetings (including potential client meetings)
• Participate in local events (staff meetings, panels, and networking events)
• Interpret and respond to design issues using listening and visual demonstrations
• Provide perspective on projects and deliverables

Is this role right for you?

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Planning/Engineering/Environmental Science related area of study
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both written and verbally
• Attitude of taking independent initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, eagerness to learn, while remaining dedicated to teamwork
• Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges.
• Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future

Preferred

• Academic research, coursework, or other experience within the built environment
• Previous experience of technical presentations and technical writing through coursework

Toronto Hiring Range -The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $21.00 to $39.00 per hour. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
