Job summary

Reporting directly to the Planning Supervisor, the role of the Planning Assistant is to support and assist the Purchasing Department by creating inbounds, processing invoices, and completing transfer breakdowns.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Working knowledge of PICK system (Will provide training)
• Must be able to work well under pressure and in a team environment
• Must be able to multi-task and possess strong organizational skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Possess excellent listening, verbal and written skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and advanced knowledge of Excel

Working Conditions

• 40 hours per week; occasional overtime required

Responsibilities

• Creation of Purchase Orders into PICK (internal system)
• Receive inbounds
• Create and convert received inventory into backorders
• Creation of Inbounds into PICK, internal system, using supplier packing slips
• Compare supplier purchase order confirmations
• Compare supplier work in progress reports
• Processing supplier invoices in a timely and accurate manner
• Create transfer and quality control breakdowns from existing inbounds
• Daily reports for Purchasing Department
• Code invoices, scan into back up folders and deliver to AP
• Consistently exercise and promote SanMar Canada’s values
• Make sound decisions based on SanMar Canada’s values
• Continuously improve upon own skill level as job evolves
• Create and maintain Forecasting sheets
• Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
• Assist in other areas of the Purchasing department and additional duties as required by management

• Work in cooperation and communicate effectively with all departments and outside vendors
• Handle all matters in the workplace in a positive and professional manner
• Work effectively and efficiently with little supervision
Keep co-workers informed of activities that have implications to their department
• Openly communicate any successes, concerns, or problems related to the job
