Job summary

Day & Ross seeks a Planner in Hartland, NB to coordinate loads, schedules, and drivers for timely freight movement. You will plan, assign, and monitor runs while liaising with Brokers and terminal staff to minimize delays.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in time-sensitive planning, strong communication, and solid MS Office skills; TruckMate is a plus. This full-time role supports a leading North American transportation provider.

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in logistics or business administration.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a time sensitive, planning and organizing role, preferably in transportation.
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask and stay on top of status.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel and Outlook; TruckMate experience is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify required loads two to seven days out and organize for greatest efficiency.
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on efficiency and Brokers’ information.
  • Monitor scheduled runs to ensure on schedule and inform Brokers of changes.
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers and address issues with Brokers; escalate to Fleet Services as needed.
  • Coordinate safe on-time movement of freight between customers and terminal.
  • Monitor loads and trucks in a specific geography, prioritizing moves.
  • Communicate with drivers and brokers to execute plans.
  • Handle calls and emails from drivers, terminal staff, CSR and other departments.
  • Monitor road and weather conditions and act per policy.
  • Complete reports and documents; participate in Linehaul Team improvements.

Planner

Hartland, NB

Planning, organizing, and monitoring runs and deliveries in order to ensure the most timely and efficient movement of trucks and to minimize empty miles and wait times.

How You’ll Help
  • Identify required loads two to seven days out and organize for greatest efficiency.
  • Assign and line up loads and deliveries based on efficiency and information from Brokers.
  • Monitor scheduled runs to ensure they are on schedule and advise Brokers, Customer Service, and/or Planner in next region of any changes.
  • Oversee daily activities of Drivers and addresses issues (e.g. load refusals, late deliveries, poor customer service) with Brokers; elevate issues to Fleet Services as required.
  • Planners are tasked with the safe on time movement of freight between our customers and our terminal with scheduled and nonscheduled linehaul units
  • Responsible for monitoring loads and trucks in a specific geography prioritizing and planning power to move loads to destination
  • Communicate with drivers and brokers to execute plans
  • Answering calls, email and other forms of communication to drivers, terminal staff, CSR and other departments.
  • Monitor road and weather conditions and initiate required actions in accordance with D&R policy
  • Complete various reports and documents as required
  • Be an active part of the Linehaul Team and foster a positive environment of continuous improvement
  • Other related duties may be assigned.
Your Skills & Experience
  • Post secondary education in logistics or business administration
  • An acceptable combination of education and training may be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a time sensitive, planning and organizing role, preferable in the transportation industry.
  • Highly organized with exceptional ability to multitask and stay on top of current status
  • Sense of urgency and responsive to changes in a timely and efficient manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook; experience with TruckMate would be considered a strong asset
