Job summary

Day & Ross in Brampton, ON is seeking a Dispatcher to manage city unit dispatch for pickups and deliveries, coordinate drivers, and monitor performance to meet customer timelines. The role requires a strong sense of urgency, hands-on leadership, and experience in transportation dispatch.

Full-time position with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 1pm–9:30pm. The candidate should be familiar with Truckmate and proficient in Excel/Word.

Qualifications

• Geography knowledge of the area.

• 2–3 years of transportation dispatch/dock supervision experience.
• Proficient in Excel and Word; Truckmate experience.
• Equipment knowledge is an asset.

• Good communication skills and flexibility in work schedule.
• Hands-on operator, trainer, coach and mentor.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate deliveries, assign pick up requests, and enter line haul orders in the computer.
• Assign appointment freight deliveries to trucks, manifest shipments, and check for expedited shipments.
• Answer phones from drivers and customers.
• Review yard check to ensure freight is not missed and trucks are on schedule.
• Coordinate drivers to come back for second round of deliveries.
• Coordinate daily P&D requirements.
• Monitor driver performance and report findings to manager.
• Identify areas for improvement and efficiencies.
• Perform clerical duties for compliance and broker pay as required.
• Other related duties as may be required.

Dispatcher

The scope of this position is to be responsible for dispatching the city units for pickup and delivery and truckload delivery freight, monitoring the performance of drivers and ensuring customer timelines are adhered to.

How You’ll Help
