Job summary

A healthcare company in Windsor is looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant to work with residents in a Long Term Care setting. The successful candidate will assist with exercises, document progress, and support residents in their treatment plans. Qualifications include being a graduate of a Physiotherapy Assistant program, strong multi-tasking skills, and effective communication with the elderly. A police check and valid TB Test are also required.

Qualifications

• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
• Experience in Long Term Care or Retirement home is an asset.
• Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home would be a definite asset.
• Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• Valid TB Test and/or Chest X-Ray is required.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Kingsville, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule

• 38 HOURS PER WEEK- Needed March 7th - April 8th 2022.

Job Duties

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
