Job summary

A healthcare provider in Ontario is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant to work with residents in a Long Term Care setting. You will assist in implementing treatment programs as directed by the Physiotherapist, documenting treatments and monitoring residents' health statuses. The ideal candidate must have a relevant qualification and experience in an Ontario Long Term Care or Retirement home. Access to a reliable vehicle and a current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is also required.

Qualifications

• Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Experience working in an Ontario Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
• Access to a reliable vehicle with valid driver's license is required.
• Experience working in an Ontario Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
• A current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• Valid 2-step TB Test and/or Chest X-ray (if applicable) is required.
• Access to a reliable vehicle with valid driver’s license is required.
• Must be a resident of Niagara on-the Lake and/or surrounding area.

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.

Overview

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Niagara on-the Lake, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule: 12.5 HOURS PER WEEK - ASAP

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
