Job summary

Arvan Rehab Group Inc. in Cambridge, Ontario is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client.

You will work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist to help residents implement treatment programs and achieve goals set forth for them. Responsibilities include assisting with group and individual exercises, documenting progress, aiding transfers, and reporting health changes to the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must have Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
• Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is an asset.
• Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• Valid TB Test and/or Chest X-Ray is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents and lead one-on-one exercises as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session as directed.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor changes to health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as ice/hot packs, ultrasound, TENS, hot wax, etc.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) for a Long Term Care client in Cambridge, Ontario. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of the Physiotherapist, our assistants will work in close contact with residents to help them implement treatment programs and achieve the goals set out for them.

Schedule:

35 HOURS PER WEEK-

Job Duties:

• Assist with conducting group exercises for residents, and/or lead one-on-one exercises with the assigned resident as directed by the Physiotherapist.
• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist's instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident's health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.

Qualifications:

• Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
• Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home would be a definite asset.
• Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
