Job summary

Arvan Rehab Group Inc. in London, Ontario is seeking a Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) to work under the supervision of a Physiotherapist in a Long Term Care setting. You will help residents implement treatment programs and achieve their goals.

Responsibilities include leading group or one-on-one exercises, documenting progress, assisting with transfers, and reporting health changes. Excellent communication with elderly residents and teamwork with staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a Physiotherapy Assistant graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to communicate well with the elderly, supervisors, and teammates.
• Experience working in a Long Term Care or Retirement home is required.
• Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
• Valid 2 STEP TB Test and/or Chest X-ray is required.
• Access to a reliable vehicle and valid drivers license is an asset.
• We will NOT consider RELOCATION - Must be a resident of London and/or the Surrounding Area.

• Encourage residents to reach the goals of their planned treatment programs if appropriate.
• Document treatments and residents' progress after each therapy session per the Physiotherapist’s instructions.
• Assist residents with walking, sitting, and safe transferring.
• Monitor any changes to a resident’s health status and report to the Physiotherapist or supervisor.
• Perform treatments such as applying an ice pack or hot pack, ultrasound therapy, TENS (electrotherapy), hot wax, etc.
