Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness in Cannington, ON is seeking a casual, part-time Physiotherapist Assistant to support the supervising physiotherapist in residential care settings. The role involves assisting with treatment plans, gait and balance work, and leading small group exercise sessions.

You will set up equipment, document sessions, and ensure safe, clean treatment areas, while coordinating with the physiotherapist on resident status and interventions.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or equivalent healthcare background.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months).
• Proof of TB (2‑Step Mantoux) clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing components of treatment plans for residents.
• Deliver treatments and, where directed, lead gait training, balance, transfer, ROM, strengthening and modalities.
• Deliver dynamic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up, prepare and clean equipment; maintain safe, tidy treatment areas.
• Record daily treatments in the web‑based system and communicate changes with the physiotherapist.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervising physiotherapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities.
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Physiotherapist, including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, and application of modalities (i.e., heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS).
• Deliver dynamic, safe, and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments.
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy.
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the physiotherapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions.
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web‑based system.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology, or a similar healthcare background.
• Previous experience within an LTC setting is an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months).
• Proof of Tuberculin (2‑Step Mantoux Test) clearance.
