Job summary

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is seeking a Casual Part-Time Occupational Therapy Assistant to support our team in Hamilton, ON. You will work under the supervision of an occupational therapist, assisting with treatment plans for residents in care communities.

Responsibilities include administering treatments, leading group exercise sessions, and maintaining safe treatment areas while documenting daily visits in our web-based system.

Qualifications

• PTA/OTA diploma or degree in Kinesiology or similar healthcare background.
• Previous LTC experience is an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check within 6 months.

• Perform prescribed treatments including gait training, balance exercises, transfer training, ROM, strengthening, and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS).
• Deliver dynamic, safe therapeutic exercise classes for groups of residents.
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after treatments.
• Ensure resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy.
• Maintain regular communication with the occupational therapist regarding resident status or changes.
• Record daily treatments using the facility's web-based system.

Education

PTA/OTA diploma

Lifemark Seniors Wellness is looking for a Casual Part-Time Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our growing team!

Location: Hamilton, ON

Status: Casual Part-Time

In this role you will:

• Assist the supervising occupational therapist in performing various components of the treatment plans for individuals living in residential care communities
• Perform various treatments as prescribed and directed by the supervising Occupational therapist including but not limited to gait training, balance exercises,
  transfer training, range of motion, strengthening, application of modalities. (i.e. heat, ice, ultrasound, TENS)
• Deliver dynamic, safe and therapeutically beneficial exercise classes for groups of residents
• Set up and prepare equipment and clean up after residents' treatments
• Ensure that the resident gym and treatment areas are safe and tidy
• Maintain regular ongoing communication with the occupational therapist regarding any changes or concerns about a resident's status or treatment interventions
• Record daily treatments using Seniors Wellness' proprietary, web-based system

Qualifications:

• PTA/OTA diploma, degree in Kinesiology or a similar healthcare background
• Previous experience within an LTC setting an asset.
• A valid Vulnerable Sector screening check (within 6 months)
• Proof of Tuberculin (2-Step Mantoux Test) clearance
