Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking an Acute Physical Therapist Assistant for a Pool/PRN role at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, FL. You will support therapists with treatment plans, patient education, and daily documentation in a busy acute care setting.

Ideal candidates have PTA credentials, BLS, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. This is a pool/PRN position requiring on-site presence with occasional weekend coverage.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans developed by the Physical Therapist.
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional ADL (Activities of Daily Living) mobility interventions.
• Monitor and document patient progress, reporting changes to the supervising therapist.
• Educate patients and families on exercises and techniques to support recovery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, and occupational therapists.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during therapy sessions.
• Adhere to infection control and hospital policies.

Acute Physical Therapist Assistant Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)
• Or PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) Temporary and licensure within 6 months
• Required Associate's Physical Therapy
• Preferred 1-year Physical Therapy Assistant
