Job summary

Lumentum Canada is seeking an engineer to build the automation and software for photonics manufacturing, combining process automation, test automation, machine vision, data analytics, and modernization of existing software. The role sits where fiber optics, electronics, motion, and code meet, with lab and manufacturing floor exposure.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in hardware-focused automation or software engineering, strong C#/.NET on Windows, and Python on Linux.

Qualifications

5+ years in automation, test, or software engineering in a hardware environment.
Strong programming fundamentals with C#/.NET on Windows; Python on Linux.
Ability to drive a project from requirements to deployment with minimal direction.
Hands-on hardware experience and understanding of production realities.
Knowledge of fiber optics or photonics is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own projects from requirements through to manufacturing deployment.
Build test and process automation systems integrating test and measurement equipment.
Develop machine vision and inspection automation for manufacturing.
Develop the data acquisition and analytics layers turning raw data into insight.
Take on existing software: extend, modernize, and keep it running.
Collaborate with design, process, manufacturing, and production teams to communicate results clearly.
