Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in Canada is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen collection, preparation, and transportation. You will greet patients, collect samples, perform phlebotomies, and ensure proper protocol and documentation.

You will contribute to patient care, maintain data accuracy, and work with a collaborative team in a fast-paced laboratory environment, upholding privacy standards and delivering high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience in healthcare.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Proficient data entry skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients follow test protocols.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and ECG tracings.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
• Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics and requisition information.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
