Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is seeking a Casual (Float) Laboratory Assistant to support specimen collection and processing across PSCs. You will greet patients, collect specimens, perform phlebotomy, ECG tracings, and special test collections, while ensuring accurate documentation and privacy.

The role emphasizes strong communication, data entry, and teamwork, with flexible shifts and a commitment to patient care across BC and Alberta facilities.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Proficient data entry skills required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, obtain required information, explain specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, 24-hour BP monitoring, ECG tracings.
• Collect specimens for special tests and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries.
• Data entry of patient demographics and requisition information.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
