Colonial Group in Kamloops seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support specimen collection from greeting patients to preparation for transport. This casual (float) role involves phlebotomy, Holter monitoring, 24-hour BP, and ECG tracing.

You will handle data entry, documentation, and patient communication across shifts. The ideal candidate has a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or related healthcare experience, plus strong data entry and privacy compliance skills.

Formación

• Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Proficient data entry skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Ability to relate to patients and health care providers.

Responsabilidades

• Greet and request information from patients, explain the specimen collection process and ensure test protocol is followed.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, 24-hour BP monitoring, and ECG tracings.
• Perform special test collections and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries and follow up on requests.
• Enter required patient demographics, requisition information and processing data.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
