Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) invites applications for a Pharmacy Technician in the Outpatient Pharmacy at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The role supports pharmacists in dispensing, compounding, and maintaining high standards for patient care.

Temporary Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week, with a fixed end date. The position offers competitive wage rates within the Ontario public sector, along with benefits and professional opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage priorities.
• Two years practical and related experience preferred.
• Experience in hospital setting with unit dose and IV admixture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with pharmacists to maintain high standards of client relations.
• Assist pharmacists with all technical aspects of prescription dispensing.
• Prepare or compound extemporaneous products under supervision.
• Support Outpatient Pharmacy operations and services.
• Perform other duties aligned with the job classification as required.

Wage Range: $32.32 to $37.26 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Temporary Full-Time (18 Months Contract)

Duties

• Working in conjunction with pharmacists in maintaining high standards of client relations
• Assisting pharmacists in accurately and efficiently performing all technical aspects relating to prescription dispensing responsibilities
• Preparing or compounding extemporaneous products using appropriate techniques under supervision of a pharmacist
• Performing activities relating to the maintenance and operation of Outpatient Pharmacy services
• Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
• Two years practical and related experience preferred
• Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
