Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a Pharmacy Site Operations Leader to supervise inpatient pharmacy operations at Toronto Western Hospital. You will support the Dual Hospital Pharmacy Operations Manager, lead projects, and supervise staff, ensuring safety, quality and efficient drug distribution.

Required are a PharmD or Master's, PEBC certification, and active OC Pharmacy registration (Part A). Hospital pharmacy experience and strong communication are essential for this permanent

  • PEBC certification required.
  • Active registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacist, Part A required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise inpatient pharmacy operations.
  • Support Operations Manager with site pharmacy operations.
  • Lead pharmacy projects and supervise staff.
  • Maintain policies and procedures; expertise in pharmacy automation and compounding.
  • Lead safety, quality, delivery and efficiency initiatives in drug distribution.

Position Summary

As an integral member of UHN Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Site Operations Leader is responsible for supervising inpatient pharmacy operations.

Duties
  • Supporting the Dual Hospital Pharmacy Operations Manager with all aspects of pharmacy operations of the assigned site
  • implementing pharmacy projects
  • providing direct and/or functional supervision of staff including human resources management
  • maintaining related policies and procedures; providing expertise in pharmacy automation, sterile and non-sterile compounding
  • leading initiatives that will optimize the safety, quality, delivery and efficiency of the hospital's drug distribution systems
  • represent pharmacy at various interprofessional committees and contribute to quality improvement activities within the department, while exemplifying UHN's values of caring, excellence, teamwork, innovation, integrity, leadership, and respect
  • Completion of an advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) or Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
  • Certificate of competency from the Pharmacy Examination Board of Canada required
  • Active registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacist, Part A required
  • At minimum over 2-3 years practical and related supervisory, management, or leadership experience required
  • Pharmacy practice in a hospital setting with up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy operations required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to manage workload with frequent changes
  • Ability to plan and coordinate various assignments and projects
  • Professional Society Membership relevant to Hospital Pharmacy (e.g. CSHP) an asset
  • Pharmacy Residency an asset
