Why this role is important?

Summary:

To manage the overall operations of the Pharmacy, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in providing professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in the maintenance of the dispensary.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage pharmacy and customer service operations
• Acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy
• Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements
• Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management
• Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
• Practice to the full extent of your professional scope within your capabilities
• Be clearly identifiable to the public
• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
• Communicate with other healthcare professionals to provide customer care
• Maintain all required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies

Workflow and Inventory Management:

• Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality
• Review and maintain workflow queues daily
• Review 'will call' bins as per SOPs
• Check for expired inventory
• Oversee stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers
• Ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances and reporting to authorities

Operations:

• Maintain professional appearance of workstations and areas
• Participate in financial reporting as appropriate
• Respond to store communications
• File incident reports for medication or privacy incidents
