DrugSmart Pharmacy Queens in Kingston, Ontario is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The candidate will greet customers, handle phone calls professionally, and assist with prescription labeling, packaging, and data entry under supervision.

Responsibilities include inventory management, safety in disposal of hazardous waste, clerical tasks, and assisting with daily operations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years experience as Pharmacy Assistant in retail.
• Proficiency with Kroll and accurate prescription data entry.
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; team-focused.

Job description

DrugSmart Pharmacy Queens is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Kingston, Ontario.

Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities

• Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
• Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
• Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
• Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
• Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
• Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
• Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
• Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy witha preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
• Proficiency with Kroll, along with a high level of accuracy and efficiency in prescription data entry, is required
• Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Schedule

• 40 hours per week (Full-time)
• Monday to Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Regular 8-hour shifts will be scheduled within these operating hours.
