Heritage Co-op invites applications for a Pharmacy Assistant (Casual) at our Brandon, MB location. You will support pharmacists, technicians, and the pharmacy team, while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining confidentiality.

The role involves prescription processing, inventory management, merchandising, and administrative duties in a busy retail pharmacy environment. Strong data entry and computer skills are essential. Casual/part-time shifts available.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Assistant Certificate or related post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • 1–2 years of customer service or retail experience preferred.
  • Experience handling confidential information is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist with general pharmacy inquiries.
  • Assist with prescription processing and data entry under supervision of Pharmacist.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory, stock, and merchandising according to standards.
  • Process customer transactions using the POS system accurately.
  • Follow pharmacy regulations and maintain confidentiality and safety.

Pharmacy Assistant ( Casual)
For our Pharmacy located in Brandon, MB

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for providing an exceptional level of customer service and supporting the daily operations of the Pharmacy while adhering to all company policies, procedures, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. This role assists the Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacists, and Pharmacy Technicians with prescription processing, inventory control, merchandising, administrative functions, and customer service while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner and assisting with general pharmacy inquiries.
  • Support prescription processing activities by receiving prescription information, performing data entry, preparing labels, and assisting with prescription pick-up procedures under the supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Assist customers in locating over-the-counter medications, health and wellness products, and pharmacy merchandise.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory through stock replenishment, rotation, inventory counts, monitoring expiry dates, and product ordering support.
  • Receive, stock, organize, and merchandise pharmacy products according to company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately while providing professional customer service.
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties including filing, record maintenance, report preparation, and documentation management.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, customer, and business information in accordance with privacy legislation and company policies.
  • Follow all pharmacy regulations, workplace health and safety standards, loss prevention practices, and company procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards throughout the dispensary and pharmacy retail area.
  • Support the Pharmacy Team with additional operational duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy Assistant Certificate or related post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of customer service or retail experience preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience handling confidential information in a professional environment is preferred.
  • Strong computer, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy software systems is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the pharmacy and healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace safety practices is considered an asset.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry merchandise and supplies up to 25 lbs.
  • Availability to work in a casual or part-time capacity, including a variety of shifts such as evenings, weekends, and holidays, with weekly hours ranging from 8 to 16 hours based on operational requirements.
  • Customer Focus: Provides exceptional customer service and creates positive experiences by understanding customer needs and responding professionally and courteously.
  • Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and effectively with customers, pharmacists, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Works cooperatively with pharmacy staff and other departments to achieve team and organizational goals.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintains accuracy when processing prescription information, inventory records, reports, and administrative documentation.
  • Integrity and Confidentiality: Demonstrates professionalism and protects sensitive patient, customer, and business information.
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of assigned responsibilities and consistently delivers quality work.
  • Organization and Planning: Prioritizes and coordinates tasks efficiently to support smooth pharmacy operations.
