Job summary

A cooperative pharmacy in Portage la Prairie is looking for a Staff Pharmacist to ensure accurate prescription filling and provide essential patient counselling. This full-time role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making. The successful candidate must be licensed to practice in Manitoba and will benefit from a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance and continued education opportunities. Qualifications

  • Preferred candidates will have injection certification and other advanced practice certificates.
  • Experience with Kroll Pharmacy Software is an asset.
  • Experience with pharmacy software systems is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely.
  • Provide patient counselling and education on prescription and non‑prescription medications.
  • Administer injections/immunizations as required.
  • Assist customers with merchandise on the floor
  • Review patient profiles for drug-related problems and adherence
  • Process prescriptions and POS transactions
  • Support pricing, ordering, and receiving to minimize shrink
  • Supervise and train dispensary staff as needed
  • Comply with federal and provincial regulations and Pharmacy Standards

Homestead Co-op’s Pharmacy in Portage la Prairie is expanding our staffing needs and in need of a Full Time – Staff Pharmacist. This pharmacist role is located in an eligible community for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness*.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the candidate will be responsible for assisting with the day‑to‑day operations of the Pharmacy Department.

  • Ensure all prescriptions are filled accurately, efficiently, and safely
  • Provide patient counselling and education on prescription and non‑prescription medications
  • Administer injections/immunizations
  • Assist customers with locating merchandise on the sales floor
  • Review patient profiles to identify drug‑related problems and monitor medication adherence
  • Complete adjudication and sale of prescriptions and other purchases using the pharmacy software and point of sale (POS) systems
  • Support accurate pricing, ordering, and receiving procedures to minimize shrink and optimize sales
  • Supervise and train other dispensary staff as required to maintain efficient workflow within the dispensary
  • Comply with all legal requirements (Federal and Provincial) and Pharmacy Standards of Practice
  • Comply with Homestead Co‑op policies and procedures and follow Health and Safety procedures
