Job summary

Moose Jaw Co-op in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is seeking a part-time Pharmacist to deliver pharmaceutical care in a community setting. You will perform injections, reviews, counseling, and ensure accurate dispensing while following Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists guidelines and Moose Jaw Co-op policies.

You will lead dispensing activities, supervise Pharmacy Assistants, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes within a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

  • Must have Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Licensed to practice in Saskatchewan and in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists.
  • Willing to actively participate in patients’ healthcare outcomes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high morals and business ethics.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide injections, medication reviews, and minor ailment prescribing to maximize patient care.
  • Counsel on prescription and OTC medications, including indications, dosage, adverse effects and interactions.
  • Adhere to policies for reporting, documenting, and following up on errors, incidents, and discrepancies.
  • Ensure dispensing processes are accurate and timely, including ordering and communication.
  • Oversee dispensing duties by Pharmacy Assistants to ensure accuracy of prescriptions.
  • Develop relationships with healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Participate in industry events and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Moose Jaw Co-op is hiring a part-time Pharmacist to be located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

This position will provide pharmaceutical care according to established Moose Jaw Co-op policies as well as the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists guidelines. This includes but is not limited to, pharmaceutical consultation, drug utilization review, medication counseling, medication histories, drug information, and education roles of prescription and over the counter needs.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Division Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Provide patient focused services such as injections, medication reviews, and minor ailment prescribing to maximize patient care
  • Provide professional advice and counselling on prescription and OTC medications including indications, dosage, adverse effects, and drug interactions
  • Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures for reporting, documenting, and follow up on known, alleged, and suspected errors, incidents, and discrepancies
  • Ensure all medication dispensing processes are accurate and appropriately managed while focusing on the timely delivery, reporting, invoicing, ordering and communication
  • Oversee all dispensing duties carried out by Pharmacy Assistants to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of all prescriptions dispensed
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with health care professionals in the community to ensure optimal patient care
  • Participate in industry association events and stay up to date with developments in the pharmacy profession

  • Licensed and able to practice pharmacy in Saskatchewan (and be in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists)
