Heritage Co-op in Brandon, MB is hiring a Food Store Cashier to deliver exceptional customer service, handle transactions accurately, and keep checkout areas clean and organized while supporting store operations.

You will greet customers, operate the POS, balance tills, and assist with product locations and promotions, all while following safety policies and contributing to a World Class Customer Experience.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school preferred.
• Previous retail, cash handling or grocery experience an asset.
• Strong customer service skills with ability to build relationships.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic math and attention to detail for accurate transactions.
• POS experience an asset.

For Our Food Store Located in Brandon, MB

The Food Store Cashier is responsible for providing an exceptional level of customer service while ensuring accurate and efficient processing of customer transactions. This position plays a key role in creating a positive shopping experience by assisting customers, handling cash and payment transactions, maintaining checkout areas, and supporting overall store operations in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, responding to inquiries, promoting Co-op products and services, and contributing to a World Class Customer Experience.
• Accurately process customer transactions including cash, debit, credit, gift cards, refunds, exchanges, and other approved payment methods while balancing tills according to established procedures.
• Ensure checkout areas are clean, organized, adequately stocked, and presented in a professional manner; maintain displays of merchandise and promotional items located at or near cash registers.
• Assist customers with product location inquiries, carry-outs when required, and other customer service needs while maintaining a friendly and professional attitude.
• Follow all loss prevention, cash handling, occupational health and safety, security, and company policies and procedures; report concerns to the Front-End Supervisor or Food Store Manager.
• Support store operations through light housekeeping duties, merchandising assistance, stocking front-end merchandise, and other duties assigned to support overall store performance.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of high school is preferred.
• Previous retail, cash handling, customer service, or grocery store experience is considered an asset.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate transaction processing.
• Previous experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems is considered an asset.

• Retail environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull merchandise up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
