Why this role is important?

SUMMARY:

Manage the operations of the Pharmacy during your shift, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to the full scope in professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in dispensary maintenance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pharmacy and Customer Service

  • Acknowledge all customers approaching the Pharmacy
  • Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements
  • Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management
  • Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
  • Practice to full extent of expanded scope with Professional Services within your capability
  • Be clearly identifiable to the public
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
  • Communicate with other healthcare professionals to provide customer care
  • Maintain all required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policy

Workflow and Inventory Management:

  • Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality
  • Review and maintain Workflow Queues daily
  • Regularly review ‘will call’ bins per SOPs
  • Review stock for expired inventory
  • Oversee current stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers
  • Ensure compliance with regulations for controlled substances and report to authorities as required

Operations:

  • Maintain the appearance of workstations and waiting areas
  • Participate in financial reporting as needed
  • Read and respond to store communications online
  • File incident reports for medication or privacy incidents

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to think independently and make decisions
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks, providing coaching to colleagues
  • Proven ability to drive business growth and lead by example
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Strong customer relations and professionalism
  • Effective problem-solving skills with action plan execution experience
  • Personal computing skills and knowledge of pharmacy systems are assets
  • Follow health & safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment
  • Complete mandatory and voluntary training as needed
