Job summary

VON Canada is hiring a Personal Support Worker to provide person-centred care in clients homes. You will support daily living, assist with mobility and meals, and help implement each clients care plan across days, evenings, and weekends.

Travel between client homes is required as part of the role, and you will work within a hospice program delivering compassionate, quality care with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Certification as Personal Support Worker (PSW) or Developmental Services Worker.
• Nursing students who completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses may apply.
• Current Standard First Aid or CPR level C certificate.
• Must have a valid drivers license, own vehicle and valid insurance.
• Satisfactory Criminal Records Check (original).
• Must be able to wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in their homes.
• Help develop and follow the client care plan.
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, dressing).
• Support mobility and safe transfers.
• Prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping.
• Offer respite care to families.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About the role:

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you'll use your training to provide person-centred care, support daily living, and help clients stay comfortable and independent in their own homes. You'll travel between clients' homes throughout the day, making every visit matter. Bring your skills to where they're needed most!

Marigold Residence Hospice provides specialized care and services with a patient-centered approach. Patients and families are intimately involved in creating their own plan of care which best addresses their unique needs. Our specialized hospice team works together, with other community partners and service providers to provide full support and quality hospice palliative care. Working within an interdisciplinary care team with the goal to provide comfort care and the management of pain and other symptoms.

What you'll do:

• Provide care to clients in the comfort of their own homes
• Help develop the client's care plan
• Assist with personal care, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Aide with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort

What we are looking for:

• Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply
• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed
• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
