Job summary

VON Canada is hiring a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide person-centred care in clients' homes, support daily living, and help design care plans across a travel-based schedule. You will work daily with families and healthcare teams to maintain comfort and independence in home settings.

Applicants should hold PSW/DSW certification, current First Aid or CPR Level C, a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a Criminal Records Check.

Qualifications

• PSW or DSW certification is required.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to clients in their homes and support daily living.
• Help develop the client's care plan and assist with mobility and transfers.
• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, meals and light housekeeping.
• Monitor home safety, collaborate with healthcare teams, and perform other duties as assigned.

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you'll use your training to provide person-centred care, support daily living, and help clients stay comfortable and independent in their own homes. What you'll do

• Provide care to clients in the comfort of their own homes
• Help develop the client's care plan
• Assist with personal care, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Aide with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals and perform light housekeeping duties
• Offer respite care to families, allowing them a much-needed break
• Monitor and maintain a safe home environment
• Collaborate with healthcare teams
• Perform other duties as assigned

What we are looking for

• Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker certification
• Nursing students who have completed first year of RPN or BScN or internationally educated nurses are eligible to apply
• Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed
• Must enjoy driving, have a personal vehicle and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance
• A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
• Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
