Job description

You need to be available for work between the following hours :

• Monday to Sunday, 7am – 1pm or 4pm – 10pm

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides homemaking and respite care
• Performs all personal care duties
• Assists in the preparation of daily meals and nutritional snacks
• Monitors clients’ well-being and informs supervisor of any changes or incidents
• Demonstrates a strong sense of autonomy and self-management
• Travels to clients’ homes daily to perform services for the agency’s clients
• Performs other duties as required

EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate required
• Physical ability to perform light cleaning, lifting, washing floors, dusting, laundry, and transferring clients, along with knowledge of basic health and safety standards
• Knowledge of routine precautions required for cleanliness, disinfecting, and controlling the spread of communicable diseases (IPAC)
• Able to build relationships with clients using a gentle approach
• Crisis intervention and problem-solving skills are required to anticipate and address client issues
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential
• Strong sense of integrity and autonomy
• Immunization for tuberculosis, chickenpox, mumps, and hepatitis B is strongly encouraged
• Current First Aid & CPR Certification required
• Crisis Prevention Intervention and Food Handlers’ certificates are preferred
• Current Vulnerable Sector Police check completed within the last 12 months is required
• Familiarity with computers, email, and the internet
• Fluency in a second language such as Italian, Spanish, or Russian is an asset
• Access to a reliable vehicle is mandatory
• Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination required
