Spectrum Health Care is hiring Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to work in facility settings in Aurora. Full-time and part-time hours are available, with alternate weekends.

Job Description

Personal Support Workers play a vital role in our healthcare system. They work closely with patients and their families, providing personal care and support with activities of daily living. The care provided ensures patients can recover safely from an illness or remain in their homes throughout aging.

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.)
• Assess, anticipate, and respond to the changing needs of patients, and communicate available care resources when appropriate
• Perform delegated tasks under supervision of a Home Support Supervisor
• Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities

Qualifications

• Have one of the following qualifications (required):
  • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or Ministry of Education approved program
  • RN/RPN Student who has successfully completed at least the first year of the program
  • Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician
• Physical ability to meet job demands (e.g., standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, lifting 23 kg independently, assisting clients with mobility, repositioning clients in bed)
• Ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification
• Updated immunization record including TB Test (within the last 6 months)
• Proficient in verbal and written English; additional languages are an asset
