Job Description

Personal Support Workers play a pivotal role in our healthcare system. At Spectrum Health Care, they work closely with patients and families, providing personal care and support with activities of daily living. The care provided by PSWs helps patients recover safely from illness or remain in their homes during aging.

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, feeding, etc.) in residences or facilities.
• Assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to patients' changing needs, and communicate available resources when appropriate.
• Perform delegated tasks under supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
• Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities.

Qualifications

• Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or Ministry of Education approved program.
• RN/RPN students who have completed at least one year of their program.
• Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
• Physical ability to meet job demands (standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, reaching, lifting 23 kg, assisting clients with mobility, repositioning clients in bed).
• Ability to provide exceptional personal care and customer service.
• Valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
• Updated immunization record including TB test within the last 12 months.
• Proficient in verbal and written English; additional languages are an asset.
