Job summary

Nurse Next Door is hiring caregivers to support seniors at home across the Durham region, including Oshawa, with a focus on Happier Aging and living independently.

Roles involve companionship, meal prep, light housekeeping and personal care per the client’s care plan. A PSW/DSW/HCA certificate and CPR are required, with travel to client locations supported by flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in home care and elder assistance preferred.
• Ability to perform Activities of Daily Living per plan.
• Good communication and empathy with clients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide meal preparation and light housekeeping as needed.
• Offer companionship and personal care to clients.
• Follow the client’s care plan outlined by the Care Designer.
• Assist with transfers, mobility and exercises within scope.
• Complete records and documentation accurately.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and/or provide companionship and personal care.
• Happier Aging is at the heart of what we do — enabling seniors to live at home as long as possible, doing what they love to do.
• Execute on the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Help clients with their ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living) that is within the scope of practice for a Registered Health Care Aide.
• Assist clients with transfers, ambulation and exercises.
• Meet the safety needs of the client and use equipment safely and properly.
• Function within the limits of your own experience and knowledge, while practicing safely and competently within the job description.
• Complete records and documentation accurately and thoroughly.

Requirements

• Must have valid certificate for PSW, DSW, HCA or foreign trained nurse
• CPR
• TB and Police Check
• Vehicle/Valid driver’s license required and must be willing to travel to remote locations
