Job summary

March of Dimes Canada in Niagara Region is seeking a Part-Time Personal Support Worker to assist clients at home with daily living activities per individual service plans. The role supports people with disabilities to live independently and thrive in their communities nationwide.

The position offers flexible shifts (morning, evening, overnight, weekends, holidays) and a starting wage of $23.11 per hour, incl. a $3.00/hour enhancement for direct client support hours.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities or as an informal caregiver is asset but not required.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

  • Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living per service plans.
  • Personal care, lifts/transfers, rising/retiring, bowel/bladder routines, meal prep, ROM exercises, light housekeeping.
  • Perform duties professionally, respecting privacy and safety.
  • Support 24-hour attendant care with varied shifts across locations.

Whether their disability is physical, the result of brain injury, or aging, our more than 2,000 team members assist clients in their homes and across communities, to live as independently as possible.

The opportunity:

Known internally as Support Service Attendant, we have 2new opportunity for a Part-Time Personal Support Workerposition in our Niagara Region, ON.

  • Flexible schedule:Includes morning, evening, and overnight shifts on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Starting wage: $23.11 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
  • Hours:Various hours per week.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
    • Personal care
    • Lifts and Transfers
    • Rising/retiring
    • Bowel and bladder procedures
    • Meal preparation and feeding
    • Range of motion exercises
    • Other light housekeeping duties
  • Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
  • March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required

  • Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care
