Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Personal Support Worker to assist residents with daily activities, personal hygiene, and emotional well-being, aligned with our resident-centred approach.

The role requires PSW certification in Ontario, CPR, and strong interpersonal skills; evening shifts and weekends are required, with opportunities for professional development and an inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario.
• Experience in long term care is an asset.
• Current CPR Certificate.
• Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Ability to speak Chinese an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care to assist residents with daily activities and personal hygiene.
• Support residents' physical, social and emotional needs in a resident-centred manner.
• Maintain resident-centred care in accordance with government standards and residents' rights.
• Work evening shifts, including weekends and short shifts as needed.
• Utilize computer systems (Point Click Care, MS Office) as part of daily tasks.

The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.**Qualifications*** Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent* Experience in long term care setting an asset* Current CPR Certificate* Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.* Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills* Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage* Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player* Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset* Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
