Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living according to individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies, including personal care, dressing and grooming, rising and retiring, and meal preparation.
• Provide range of motion exercises, light housekeeping, and lifts/transfers (upon training) while maintaining dignity, privacy and rights.
• Work various shifts across locations in the Niagara Region, following safety guidelines and ensuring health of clients and staff.

This Opportunity:

We are currently looking to fill Part-Time Personal Support Worker (internally known as Support Services Attendant) / Health Care Aide positions in our Wellness Supportive Living Program in Welland, at 211 King St.

Wage: $20.11 per hour, with paid travel time and mileage. This position is eligible for the $3.00 per hour temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training or paid leave.

Hours: up to 25 hours per week. Hours will vary.

Schedule: available shifts are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

A valid driver's licence, proof of insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures, including:
  • Personal care
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Rising and retiring
  • Incontinence care (upon training)
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Light housekeeping duties
  • Lifts and transfers (upon training)
• Performing duties professionally while respecting consumers' dignity, privacy, and rights, and maintaining the health and safety of consumers and staff.
• Working various shifts, including days, evenings, midnights, weekends, and holidays, across locations in the Niagara Region.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
• Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver is considered an asset but is not required
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
