The opportunity

Known internally as Support Service Attendant, this is a Full‑time position in our Community Support Services team.

• Schedule: Days and every other weekend
• Starting wage: $19.81 per hour (inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.)
• Hours: 35 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non‑medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies:
  • Personal care
  • Lifts and transfers
  • Rising/retiring
  • Bowel and bladder procedures
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Other light housekeeping duties
• Perform duties in a professional manner, respecting the dignity and right to privacy, and maintaining consumer and staff health and safety.
• Provide support to seniors in their homes; shifts will require travel across multiple locations. Mileage kilometers are reimbursed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
• Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills
• Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
• Physical demands self‑analysis required upon hire
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
