Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to provide non-medical in-home support in the Niagara Region. The role features a wage of $23.11 per hour (base $20.11) with a $3.00 government wage enhancement, up to 25 hours weekly, and a varied schedule including days, evenings and every other weekend.

Candidates must have a valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport, with Standard First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain) and the ability to work flexible hours

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience with individuals with physical disabilities or older adults is an asset but not required.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours.
• Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living according to service plans.
• Personal care, dressing and grooming, rising and retiring.
• Incontinence care (upon training).
• Meal preparation and feeding; range of motion exercises.
• Light housekeeping duties; lifts and transfers (upon training).
• Work across different locations throughout the Niagara Region, including days/evenings/weekends/holidays.

This Opportunity:

We are currently looking to fill a part-time Personal Support Worker (known internally as Support Service Attendant) / Health Care Aide position in the Niagara Region.

• Wage: $23.11 per hour, plus paid travel time and mileage. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave. The base wage is $20.11 per hour.

• Hours of Work: Up to 25 hours per week

• Schedule: Varies, including days, evenings, and every other weekend

A valid driver's licence, proof of insurance, and a reliable vehicle are required.

Responsibilities

Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures, including:

• Personal care
• Dressing and grooming
• Rising and retiring
• Incontinence care (upon training)
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Range of motion exercises
• Light housekeeping duties
• Lifts and transfers (upon training)

Additional responsibilities include:

• Performing duties professionally while respecting the dignity and privacy of consumers and maintaining the health and safety of consumers and staff.
• Working a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, across different locations throughout the Niagara Region.
