Position Details:

• Union: CUPE HC (2 Positions)
• Site: Hillcrest Reactivation Centre
• Department: Transitional Care Program
• Reports to: Manager, Program Services
• Work Model: On-Site
• Salary: $31.89 per hour (non-negotiable, per collective agreement)
• Hours: Variable as required
• Shifts: 8/12hr rotating days/evenings/nights/stat
• Status: Casual
• Closing Date: May 13, 2025

Position Summary:

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is part of the inter-professional care team, maintaining collaborative relationships to provide patient care.

Key Duties:

1. Assist patients with activities of daily living: feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
2. Perform delegated tasks as assigned by an RN or RPN, in compliance with RHPA, following appropriate education and training. RNs and RPNs oversee these tasks, which may include invasive procedures.
3. Communicate and demonstrate basic information according to the patient’s Plan of Care.
4. Ensure safety by reporting unsafe conditions and patient changes, documenting incidents, and following hospital policies.

Qualifications:

• Current registration with HSCPOA
• Current BCLS certification
• Behavioral management training (e.g., PIECES, U-First, CPI) is an asset
• Ability to handle physical exertion (standing, walking, reaching) regularly
• Experience in acute care or rehab is an asset
• Good attendance record required
