Wage Range: $31.00 - $31.89 (start rate non-negotiable)

Position Summary

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) is part of the inter-professional care team, maintaining a collaborative relationship with team members to provide patient care.

Duties:

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including feeding, lifts and transfers, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and toileting.
• Perform tasks delegated by an RN or RPN, following RHPA regulations, with appropriate education and training. RNs and RPNs oversee delegated tasks, which may include procedures involving insertion into body cavities or care under the dermis.
• Communicate and demonstrate basic information according to the patient's pre-established Plan of Care.
• Ensure safety by reporting unsafe conditions and patient behavioral, physical, or cognitive changes to the appropriate health provider.
• Complete and maintain patient records and progress notes as per hospital policy.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
• Behavioral management training (e.g., PIECES, U-First, CPI) is an asset
• Ability to handle daily physical exertion (standing, walking, reaching) on an occasional to frequent basis
• Experience in acute care and/or rehabilitation is an asset
• Good attendance record is required
