Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking Part-Time Support Service Attendants for our southwest region in Sarnia, ON. The role involves assisting clients in their homes with non-medical activities of daily living and accompanying daily routines on mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Starting wage is $22.24 per hour, including a $3.00/hour government wage enhancement for client-support hours; training and paid leave hours are not eligible for the enhancement. Hours vary from 15 to 22.5 per week.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living.
• Perform personal care, transfers, rising/retiring and bowel/bladder routines.
• Assist with meal preparation and light housekeeping.
• Support range of motion exercises and other care activities.
• Maintain dignity, privacy and safety of clients and staff.

This Opportunity

We are currently looking to fill Part-Time Support Service Attendant

roles in our southwest region – 2 at 993 Maxwell St, Sarnia, ON.

Schedule: Includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Starting wage: $22.24 per hour . This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.

Hours: Hours vary 15hrs - 22.5 hr per week

Duties include the following:

• Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
• Personal care
• Lifts and Transfers
• Rising/retiring
• Bowel and bladder procedures
• Meal preparation and feeding
• Range of motion exercises
• Other light housekeeping duties

Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety

March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its consumers. The Support Services Attendants will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. work days, evenings, weekends) that vary between locations.

Background / Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience working with people with physical disabilities, experience/knowledge/understanding of Independent Living or Consumer based care.
• Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
• Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
• Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation
