Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking a Part Time PSW/Support Service Attendant in Norfolk County. Up to 20 hours per week with shifts 4pm–10:30pm, three evenings during the week and alternating weekends.

You will assist clients at home with daily living activities, under our policies and with provided training. Qualifications include high school diploma, current First Aid/CPR, reliable transportation, and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living per individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures.
  • Provide personal care, dressing, grooming, meals, mobility assistance, and safety support as trained.
  • Work multiple shifts (days/evenings/weekends/holidays) across locations in the Niagara Region.

This Opportunity

We are currently looking to fill a Part Time Position as a PSW/Support Service Attendant role in the Norfolk County

Starting wage:

is $23.11 per hour, with paid travel time and mileage.This position already includes the $3.00 per hour temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients (starting $20.11).

Hours

Up to 20hrs/per week

Schedule

Various shifts, primarily 4pm - 10:30pm 3 days during the week and every other weekend

Duties include the following:
  • Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
    • - Personal care
    • - Dressing/Grooming
    • - Rising/retiring
    • - Incontinence care upon training
    • - Meal preparation and feeding
    • - Range of motion exercises
    • - Lifts and Transfers upon training
  • Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
  • The Support Services Attendants will be required to work multiple shifts (i.e. work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations through the Niagara Region.
Background / Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
  • Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation REQUIRED
