Job summary

United Way of Calgary and Area seeks a People & Culture Advisor to bridge strategic HR with payroll, benefits, safety, and employee relations. Reporting to the Vice President, you’ll partner with leaders and employees to support the full HR lifecycle in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead recruitment, onboarding, and HR policy implementation, while ensuring compliance with Alberta standards and safety regulations. A collaborative, inclusive culture awaits in a hybrid Calgary-based role.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience across multiple HR functions.
• Minimum 3 years of payroll administration experience, including payroll year-end processing.
• Strong knowledge of Alberta employment standards and HR best practices.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a similar HRIS/payroll platform.
• CPHR designation is preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic HR support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation, workforce planning, engagement, and inclusion.
• Coach leaders through complex people matters while balancing organizational values, policies, legislation, and risk.
• Manage full-cycle recruitment from needs assessment to offers.
• Create an exceptional onboarding experience for new employees.
• Support leaves, accommodations, workplace investigations, and related employee relations matters.
