Job summary

CHEO in Ottawa seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide therapy services in homes, schools, and CHEO settings. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to meet pediatric needs across the Champlain region.

You will travel to client sites, support the SBRS program, and adapt through virtual or in-person settings. CASLPO registration is required, with bilingual English/French being a plus; CPR-C and OPSEU considerations may apply.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist, preferably in pediatrics.
  • Related experience in a community-based or school-based setting.
  • Experience working with and supporting children and youth in developmental education settings with complex health profiles.
  • Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) required.
  • Current CPR-C certificate (Preferred).
  • Communicates effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and time management.
  • Comfort level and skill in preparing and facilitating therapeutic groups.
  • Flexible hours including evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
  • Ability to travel to provide service across Ottawa and Champlain region.
  • Ability to attend last-minute meetings in-person, as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and travel between sites daily.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Completes assessments of patients in varied settings and analyzes findings.
  • Establishes realistic, measurable treatment goals and plans.
  • Ensures informed consent for treatments.
  • Provides direct treatment and training to patients, families, and school personnel.
  • Participates in case conferences with the health care team.
  • Performs reassessments and reports progress for continuity of care.
  • Plans termination of service when goals are achieved.
  • Documents patient records per CASLPO and CHEO policies.
  • Teaches patients, families, and teams the treatment program.
  • Acts as a resource and provides educational programs as requested.
  • Supports caseloads of CDA and student placements.
  • Attends team and staff meetings and maintains knowledge updates.
  • Prioritizes CHEO policies and SBRS program mandates.
  • Complies with safety policies and emergency procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Manager.
