Job summary

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to support pediatric care in Toronto. The role includes in-clinic, school-based, and some virtual sessions with weekend/evening availability (4:00-8:00 pm).

You will perform comprehensive assessments and interventions for children, apply evidence-based practices, educate families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely, high-quality care.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Registered with the College of Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive speech and language assessments and intervention to children.
  • Follow evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment.
  • Provide education and feedback to families.
  • Communicates effectively with referring physicians, healthcare providers and community stakeholders.
  • Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines.
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records using an electronic system.

SickKids' Boomerang Health is an independent paediatric healthcare centre, located in York Region, that provides greater access to community-based services for children and adolescents. Through our interdisciplinary team, we offer physician and rehabilitation services, including groups and camps. We are committed to helping parents find solutions and manage their children's health and well-being. We do this by striving for a seamless and positive healthcare experience, and providing high standards of care.

Job Summary
  • This position is part-time and requires availability on weekend and evening hours (4:00-8:00 pm).
  • Work will be a mix of in-person at the clinic, school-based care and some virtual care.
  • Provides comprehensive speech and language assessments and intervention to children with a variety of communication concerns.
  • Follows evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment.
  • Provides education and feedback to families.
  • Communicates effectively and maintains relationships with referring physicians, healthcare providers and other relevant community stakeholders.
  • Manages a varied caseload and meets required timelines.
  • Maintains complete and accurate medical records using an electronic (computerized) system.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, with experience in paediatric assessment and treatment.
  • Registered with the College of Speech-language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
Experience/Skills
  • A minimum of three years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in assessment and evidence-based occupational therapy interventions with children.
  • Experience providing care virtually.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Utilizes critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Efficient time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills in French is an asset.
