Job summary

CHEO in Ottawa seeks a pediatric neuropsychologist to provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, diagnoses, and counseling for inpatients and outpatients. The role includes supervision of interns and psychometrists and collaboration with inter-disciplinary teams within Development and Rehabilitation.

The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology, is registered or eligible with the Ontario College of Psychologists, and has strong pediatric/neuropsychology experience,

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with a focus in clinical neuropsychology from an accredited program.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with Ontario College of Psychologists.
• Competence in clinical neuropsychology and psychology for children/adolescents.
• Demonstrated experience with pediatric neuropsychological assessments.
• Experience with rehabilitation inpatients/outpatients is preferred.
• Supervision experience is preferred.
• Ability to administer and interpret comprehensive pediatric neuropsych assessments.
• Knowledge of neuropsychological profiles for complex medical conditions and FASD.
• Strong inter-professional collaboration abilities.
• Bilingual French/English preferred.
• Vulnerable Sector Check Level 3 required.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with physicians, patients, families and inter-professional teams
• Provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, diagnosis, consultation, intervention, and counseling to both inpatients and outpatients seen in Development and Rehabilitation, including the Rehabilitation and Neuromuscular teams
• Complete neuropsychological/diagnostic assessments as part of the inter-professional Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Diagnostic Clinic team
• Provide consultation and short-term intervention to children/youth seen for neuropsychological assessment
• Liaise with other health professionals within the hospital with regard to neuropsychological assessment findings and recommendations, and their implications for the management of the child/youth.
• Provide supervision/training to pre-doctoral psychology interns.
• Provide supervision to psychometrists assisting in the provision of neuropsychological services.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
