Job summary

Pure Flavor Farms LP is seeking a Payroll Specialist to handle payroll processing and maintain the employee database for salary across all company locations. Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll inquiries and concerns.

The role requires Canadian payroll knowledge, US payroll experience a plus, and proficiency with Sage; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred and two years’ experience is expected. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
  • PCP or CPM designation preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a payroll specialist or payroll manager.
  • Ability to process payroll for multiple locations.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and regulations.
  • US payroll experience and knowledge of regulations (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency in Sage (required); experience in ADP (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to high professional ethical standards; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Outstanding organizational ability and time management skills.
  • High numerical aptitude; detail oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Complete payroll for Canadian and US sites.
  • Assist with streamlining the CAD & US payroll systems.
  • Government filings.
  • Complete journal entries.
  • Administer statements of payment to personnel either electronically or on paper
  • Coordinate benefits administration.
  • Paid time off administration.
  • Report preparation to include total hours, overtime, missing punches, etc.
  • Respond to employees’ payroll inquiries.
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company.

Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll and maintaining the employee database regarding salary and pay across all company locations. Collaborate with Human Resources on any and all employee questions or concerns relating to payroll.

  • Role requires the ability to listen and speak to other employees.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Specific vision capabilities required; the employee is to work in front of a computer, sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods is required.
  • The position may involve needing to lift to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds (e.g. filing boxes).

Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers a salary range of $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 CAD annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition, Pure Flavor provides a competitive total rewards package that includes company-paid benefits, RRSP matching, and paid time off.
