Job summary

Pure Flavor Farms LP seeks a Greenhouse Labour Supervisor to support the Grower and Assistant Grower in optimizing labour flow and safeguarding safety, efficiency, and communication.

The role trains, motivates, and coordinates all activities of the greenhouse labour team, ensuring high standards and accurate data across shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary diploma/bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience is required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a commercial greenhouse environment.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication; numeracy skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate greenhouse labour team; set expectations, monitor performance, coach and discipline as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely labour data entry by all employees and contractors.
  • Address attendance, tardiness and shift coverage; communicate with team promptly.
  • Document data entry issues and data gaps; report trends and improve processes.
  • Support growing and packhouse operations; monitor workflow and equipment performance.
  • Maintain GMPs, Health and Safety, Food Safety guidelines; ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Identify and address employee concerns in collaboration with Grower/GM.
  • Review maintenance schedules; arrange repairs and evaluate equipment.
  • Keep knowledge up-to-date by attending workshops and applying best practices.

TheGreenhouse Labour Supervisor will support the Grower and Assistant Grower in all aspects of monitoring and maintaining the efficient flow of the overall greenhouse labour performance, with safety, efficiency, and communication as the highest priorities. This position trains, motivates, supervises and co-ordinates all activities of the greenhouse labour team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the greenhouse labour team results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures to meet productivity goals and quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely labour data entry by ALL employees (including contractors / Temps when present).
  • Correct / adjust any incorrect or missed labour data entries in real time (end of day for employees who have completed shifts, and first thing the following morning for employees who worked after the Greenhouse Labour Supervisor’s shift has ended.
  • Document any absences, late arrivals, early departures and midday appointments first thing, daily, via the labour tracking platform, as well communicate the same to the balance of the Team in a timely manner.
  • Identify and communicate employee data entry errors or missing data trends, tools / equipment and process concerns
  • Support growing and packhouse operations; maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; observing control points and equipment.
  • Monitor employee and other resources; review methods; recommend cost improvement plans for discussion / consideration and implement as directed; develop reporting procedures and systems; implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all employees adhere to statutory hygiene protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Health and Safety Guidelines, Food Safety Guidelines, Health & Safety guidelines, company policies and procedures; coordinate with the Grower and Assistant Grower to effectively coach workers and/or deliver corrective counselling where appropriate.
  • Resolve employee complaints and concerns in collaboration with the Grower and General Manager.
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Review equipment maintenance schedules; arrange repairs as needed; evaluate new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and recommend and implement best practices.
  • Other core expectations as defined by the company

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required; post-secondary diploma or bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience, required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a commercial greenhouse environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with PRIVA FS Performance Labour & Crop Management platform is preferred. (Experience with comparable platforms considered an asset)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish, required.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; numeracy skills, required.
  • Proven ability to detect plant diseases and the existence of insects.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP and the PrimusGFS program.
  • Computer Skills required; Microsoft (MS) Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Must be flexible to shift assignments as required to meet both crop and customer needs.
  • This job operates in a hot, high humidity environment where temperatures average 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius), but may increase to approximately 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) in the summertime. The noise level in the work environment can be loud due to packaging machinery and forklift truck operation.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Specific vision capabilities required; employee is to occasionally work in front of a computer.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; twist; use hands to handle or feel product or packaging; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves walking and lifting, regularly, up to 30-pounds, occasionally up to 50-pounds.
  • This role regularly required the employee to work at heights up to 15 feet using a platform lifting device or scissor lift.

Compensation & Benefits:
This position offers a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000CAD annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and internal equity. In addition, Pure Flavor provides a competitive total rewards package that includes company-paid benefits, RRSP matching, and paid time off.
