About the Role:

As a Payroll Clerk, you’ll support our payroll team with day-to-day tasks to help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This is a great opportunity for someone who is just starting out in payroll or accounting, especially if you’re interested in the construction industry or learning how payroll works in a unionized environment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Enter and process employee records for new hires, rehires, terminations, and status changes accurately and promptly
  • Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly timecards for hourly and salaried staff
  • Assist with preparation and submission of CRA source deductions, ROE’s, RRSP contributions, union remittances, and benefits payment
  • Maintain and update payroll files in both electronic and physical formats to ensure compliance and audit readiness
  • Verify payroll documentation for completeness and accuracy, including hours worked, vacation, and other leave
  • Provide support to employees regarding access to the employee portal, pay statements, and year-end tax documents
  • Act as an internal resource who willingly responds to employee and staff inquiries with respect to payroll matters
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and privacy of employee and company records
  • Perform other duties as required

Required Experience and Education:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (GED)
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field is an asset
