Job summary

The Total Sanitation Services family of brands now has strategically located branches in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. We are currently pursuing strategic add-on acquisitions of leading portable sanitation providers throughout North America. Job Overview

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage and streamline payroll and benefits administration across our Canadian and US operations. In this role, you’ll ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, administer benefits and retirement programs, and support key HR processes like onboarding and offboarding. You’ll work closely with Finance and HR teams, applying your expertise to improve efficiency and maintain compliance. This position plays a vital role in maintaining employee satisfaction and confidence in our compensation and benefits programs.

Responsabilities

  • Run payroll across 6 divisions in Canada and the US using payroll software (new hires, changes, terminations).
  • Lead end-to-end payroll processes : ROEs, T4s, reporting, remittances.
  • Streamline payroll operations and automate tasks (onboarding, time tracking, earnings).
  • Collaborate with Finance on GL mapping and journal automation.
  • Administer benefits programs, coverage updates, and retirement plans.
  • Handle onboarding / offboarding, disability leaves, and liaise with benefit brokers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Canadian payroll experience (US experience a plus).
  • Experience as a sole payroll administrator.
  • Familiarity with benefits and retirement plan administration.
  • Strong numeracy, Excel, and reporting skills.
  • ADP Workforce Now (WFN) knowledge preferred.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, HR, or related fields (payroll designation an asset).
