As a Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits for our employees across Canada and the U.S. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of payroll systems, benefits administration, and employment legislation. You’ll work closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to deliver seamless payroll operations and exceptional employee service.

Key ResponsibilitiesHow You’ll Make an Impact

  • Process full-cycle payrolls for hourly and salaried employees across multiple provinces in Canada and two locations in USA.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, updates, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and federal/provincial/state legislation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in payroll and benefits systems.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and system issues with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Assist with ROEs, and other payroll-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Payroll & Benefits on daily operations and process improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party providers.
  • Create and maintain payroll process documentation and generate custom reports as needed.
  • Execute post-payroll and month-end processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and support month-end close activities.
  • Contribute to system-based solutions by understanding organizational structure.
  • Support year-end payroll activities, including T4s, T4As, RL-1s, T2200s, and remittances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & ExperienceThe Skills You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (University degree or College diploma preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • PCP certification is an asset.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll and benefits regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
