Job summary

DFI is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator to support payroll and group benefits across Canada, the US, and Australia. This role reports to the Payroll & Benefits Manager and focuses on accurate, on-time payroll processing and precise benefits administration in a dynamic, multi-entity environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of full-cycle payroll experience, Excel proficiency, and a professional designation in progress (PCP).

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with payroll accuracy and deadline adherence.
  • Familiarity with payroll tax filings and ROEs is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for employees across jurisdictions.
  • Assist with benefits administration and enrollment activities.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure regulatory compliance.

Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Manager, this role plays a meaningful part in ensuring our employees across Canada, the United States, and Australia are paid accurately and on time, and that their benefits are administered with care and precision.This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid payroll foundation who is looking to expand their experience into benefits administration and grow within a dynamic, multi-entity environment.Benefits:• Comprehensive Health and Dental plan• RRSP Matching• Employee Referral Program• Professional Development Allowance• Employee Assistance Program• Employee discounts at participating vendors• Employee preferred fuel pricing program• On-site parking#applytodayJob DutiesPrepare and process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for approximately 250 hourly employees across Canada, Australia, and the USA using Eclipse (Canada/US) and ADP (Australia)Assist with monthly salary payroll processing as requiredMonitor time entry submissions through the internal time and attendance app; flag discrepancies for reviewProcess new hires, changes, and terminations in the payroll systemPrepare Records of Employment (ROEs) using ROE WebProcess payroll remittances and disbursements to tax authorities and WCB in accordance with regulatory requirements Assist with year-end processing, including T4s (Canada) and W-2s (USA) Prepare routine and ad hoc payroll reports for management as requestedSupport the administration of group benefits plans across Canada (Canada Life) and the United States, including enrolments, terminations, and life event changesProcess benefits deductions within payroll and assist with carrier reconciliationsRespond to employee inquiries regarding benefits coverage including working closely with the Payroll & Benefits Manager in addressing complex benefit questionsAssist with annual benefits renewal administration and updates to employee recordsSupport administration of employer-sponsored retirement plans, including RRSP (Canada) and 401(k) (USA) deductions and employer match processingMaintain accurate and organized payroll and benefits recordsOther administrative tasks as requiredQualifications2+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience; exposure to multi-jurisdictional payroll is an assetExperience with or genuine interest in benefits administrationPayroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or actively working toward itIntermediate or higher proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy under deadline pressureClear communication skills and a service-oriented approach when working with employees and managersAbility to handle confidential information with discretionExperience with Eclipse, ADP, or similar payroll software is an assetBackground in construction, oilfield services, or industrial environments is an asset
